What is Vocalogy™?
“Emotional healing through reclaiming your authentic voice”
Vocalogy™ is a process by which you get to reimagine yourself as a singer, breaking through previous vocal and emotional barriers. You finish the session feeling relieved and happier about your music-making. Sessions can occur over a ‘Zoom’ or ‘Skype’ online format or in person. Each session includes:
1) a safe, nurturing, confidential ‘space’ which will allow you to discuss your history as a singer, at whatever amount of detail you feel comfortable…you get to tell your ‘story’. This may include an event or more than one event in your life that made you feel disempowered about your singing or ‘speaking up’.
2) an invitation to create new possibilities for yourself as a singer/performer
3) an overall evaluation of the your musical aptitude
4) an evaluation of your pitch matching
5) an evaluation of the your vocal instrument
6) a measurement of your vocal range
7) vocal exercises customized to best help you grow as a vocalist
8) guidance to help you select one or two songs to begin with, based on the your love of the songs, along with what I feel will work for your voice. The song or songs will be transposed into the correct key for you
9) Most sessions run one hour, although if we need that small amount of extra time to anchor things in, we’ll do it, no extra $
10) You’ll walk away with a new-found self-confidence as a singer, as well as a customized vocal warm up recording (emailed to you after the lesson), and two suggested songs in the exact keys for your voice (you may purchase your own sheet music independent of me, if you wish to do so)
What do I do after the Vocalogy™ session?
You’ll have newly-found confidence as a singer and as a person! If you should want to continue to improve your singing, David will recommend an outstanding private voice teacher just for you!
Where did Vocalogy™ come from?
David created this methodology through the process of teaching voice over the past thirty-five years. He encountered so many people who were told they couldn’t sing, mostly as children, and then they just stopped singing. Their belief often became a self-fulfilling prophecy which limited their ‘voice’ in ways that extended into other important areas of their life beyond singing. David found a calling in helping people who have experienced this. He has developed a very specific methodology which guides people towards recognizing and dismantling harmful beliefs, regaining contact with their innate musical intelligence, and finding their authentic voice. It is heart-opening, not difficult, and the results happen immediately.
